Arya Bal Vihar caters to children from ages 5 to 18, providing a comprehensive introduction to Hindi culture and language.

Think “culture club,” not formal worship. Kids learn the stories, values and history behind Indian festivals (Holi colour science, Diwali diya making, Independence-Day trivia, etc.). Ritual instruction or mandatory prayer is not part of the curriculum, so families of any or no faith are welcome.

Not at all. Many students start from zero. We teach basic Hindi through songs, charades and crafts; English remains the primary classroom language until children feel confident enough to try simple phrases.

We operate on a suggested annual donation of $100 per child (which covers supplies and weekly lunches). No child is turned away for financial reasons—simply email the coordinator to arrange a subsidy or instalment plan.

Absolutely. In fact, many of our parent volunteers are current teachers with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), bringing professional classroom expertise to every Sunday. But you don’t need to be a teacher—just enthusiasm and a completed police-screening. Roles include classroom aide, kitchen crew, event decorator, and social-media storyteller. High-school students can also earn their Ontario community-service hours by mentoring younger kids.
